Davey Graham Commemoration: JAM Music School to Participate

JAM Music School have announced: We are honored to have been asked by Carol Ballard to take part in a commemoration of the influential guitarist Davey Graham, which will take place at Bosworth Park Infirmary (now Bosworth Hall Hotel) on Saturday 26 November 2016.

Tom Baxter, who co-wrote and recorded the modern day classic 'Better' is to unveil a Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council blue plaque commemorating the guitarist's birthplace. We have been asked to elect one young Bosworthian pupil to assist. Directly after the ceremony we will put on a concert in Bosworth Hall's Tollemache Suite.

Tom Baxter - who will be performng at the Tithe Barn, Bosworth Battlefield that evening - will introduce JAM Music School's concert featuring children from our weekly sessions. The children will play selected songs that Davey Graham either wrote or had an influence on, such as: Anji, No Preacher Blues, Kashmir (Led Zeppelin) and The Cave (Mumford & Sons). The concert will include the JAM tutor team performing some songs covered by Davey such as Ballad of the Sad Young Men and Cry Me a River.

Money will be raised for 'Wishes 4 Kids' a Leicester based charity for life-limited children. Paula McAlistair, from the charity will be in attendance.

JAM Music School runs 'rock' style music lessons for young people between the ages of 6 and 16. We are based around the Market Bosworth / Hinckley area of Leicestershire where we run regular sessions. We also serve over twenty local schools and run themed Rock Schools during the school holidays. This is a family owned organization founded over ten years ago and is still run by Rachel & Dave Carter with their staff team of eight music teaching professionals.
